Now in its second year, designjunction has cemented its reputation for showcasing the finest selection of international design brands. This year designjunction welcomes the Tramshed into the event to create an even more powerful showcase for design in London’s largest non-purpose built event space.

designjunction will feature more than 100 world-class international brands set against the industrial surrounds of a 1960’s Sorting Office. Moving away from the traditional trade show environment, designjunction strikes the balance between creative and commercial, offering visitors a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere to engage and connect with design.

Three floors, across an impressive 120,000 sq ft. space, will be devoted to leading international brands, smaller cutting-edge labels, design shops, large-scale installations, temporary restaurants, bars and cafes, working flash factories, and live entertainment.

designjunction will transform the Sorting Office into the largest destination for design, culture and entertainment.

For the first time since the 1960s, human centered design is high on the agenda: issues such as accessibility, inclusivity and mobility are once more taking center stage. And as society looks for solutions to social problems of all kinds, it is to design – and designers – that it increasingly turns.

TYPO London 2012: Social provides a unique opportunity to investigate the myriad ways in which designers can function socially. And by ‘functioning socially’ we don't just mean in the socio-political sense: thanks to huge changes in the nature of media, the act of designing is, more than ever, a social act, whether it is working for a global brand or designing a new eco-friendly typeface.

There is no single path; there are many. But we can be sure of one thing: the socially minded designer is the designer best equipped to deal with the changes that we all face as a culture.

Co-organized by the AAM and MCA Denver, Continental Drift brings together the work of seven Colorado-based artists, each of whom explores the idea of place in diverse and thoughtful ways. Ranging from specific studies of both historical sites and contemporary ruins to more abstract or conceptual examinations of space, these artists demonstrate a collective preoccupation with site and setting. While some seek to unearth a specific history in Colorado, others are interested in the ideas and objects that define sites and establish the contours of the places we all inhabit. The exhibition spans film, sculpture, painting, and installations that reflect this singular idea in manifold ways; artists included are Christina Battle, Scott Johnson, Jeanne Liotta, Sarah McKenzie, Adam Milner, Yumi Roth, and Edie Winograde.

Beijing Design Week, set to take place from September 27 to October 6 2012 is the celebration of all-things design in China's capital.

This year, five characteristic architectural spaces as well as studios will be opened to the public, which are built based on the old industrial resources in the zone. For activities in the event, much emphasis will be placed on variety and interaction.
During“751 International Design Festival”, the audience will be able to appreciate not only the design creation exhibition brought by Design Lobby, but also a cross-over design concept exhibition which explores space — “Space experiment of 1.82m3” hosted by and participated by a number of designers.
Besides, “Unmade In China” uses pictures and models of the unrealized works in China to reflect the creative process and experience of designers; Crystal Design is to present an exhibition for architectures in public areas; 751HNLin Design Center will host an exhibition for famous chairs in the world.

There will also be a series of exhibitions demonstrating the best design in the world such as ANDREW MARTIN
award winning design exhibition. What’s more, the audience can join in the creative and interesting interaction or experience activities, for example, the Vibram outdoors performance, Blickfang holographic concert
as well as 3D image interaction, Lego’s design competition for children hosted by People’s Architecture
Foundation.
Design institutes from home and abroad, such as Tsinghua University's Academy of Art & Design, Australia’s University of New South Wales will also present their academic exchange or educational programs.
DFA and his programm “DUTCH DESIGN ON THE MOVE IN CHINA”，Famous musician Zhu Zheqin,
in particular, is to continue with her ethnic cultural campaign “Show the World”.
In the Design Week, the 3D Art Exhibition,360° LIVE 3D Vision pavilion and Exhibition of Roboter-
Dancing from Korea would be also presented brilliantly.

au Palais des Expositions de Charleroi pour une manifestation de deux week-ends au mois
de septembre 2012.

«Acte de foi monumental dans un avenir de progrès», tel que décrit lors de son inauguration
en 1954, le Palais des Expositions a aujourd'hui perdu de son faste et semble cristalliser
les enjeux auxquels la ville entière est confrontée.

Un parcours à travers 60.000 m2 d'espaces improbables, présentant les ouvres d'une vingtaine
d'artistes venus en résidence à Charleroi de mars à juillet en dialogue avec quelques figures
marquantes de la ville.

HALL DESIGN

Created in 2012 by François-Xavier Martouzet and Guillaume Diolez. Hall-Design is a global design agency. Both graduated with a Master's degree in Industrial Design and engineering, they decided after numerous experiences in agencies, to combine their talents.

Now Hall Design develops design solutions by providing its expertise in three core businesses: Industrial Design, Graphic Design and Web Design.

PHILOSOPHY

"The design is a strong will to make progress in the relationship between man and his environment, taking into account the right balance of various constraints : artistic, technical, ergonomic, industrial, and many others.

For this, the design leverages a number of factors : historical / cultural / social / geographical / emotional / technological / economic.

Each project is unique, hence each is treated on a case by case basis.

It is essential to conduct a prior strategic reflection of the creative concept. We must at the outset of a project, think about the identity of the brand, its business performance and create new uses: that is what gives meaning and creates value.”

Matadog Design just finished a new kids package that can be converted into a paper toy without the use of glue, blade cutter and scissors.

L’exposition installée dans les salles des Prévôts et des Tapisseries de l’Hôtel de Ville de Paris est un parcours au cœur des manufactures françaises de grande tradition qui ont fait le pari de la création contemporaine. Le choix de ce lieu pour l’exposition a été dicté par l’engagement de la Capitale dans la promotion et la sauvegarde des métiers de la création. Le Salon des Tapisseries a été justement créé pour mettre à l’abri de très belles tapisseries réalisées au XVIe siècle.

Le visiteur est plongé tout de suite dans le sujet : un film liminaire de 3 minutes, réalisé par Corentin Banzet, place l’artisan au centre du propos et magnifie son aptitude à transformer la matière. En collaboration avec Freeka Tet, les bruits captés dans les usines seront transformés et diffusés afin de restituer l’ambiance des ateliers.

Le visiteur découvre ensuite les objets des 26 sociétés retenues pour cette exposition. Le dialogue entre créations contemporaines et pièces patrimoniales permet de comprendre la pertinence de la collaboration entre savoir-faire et design en illustrant les différents axes d’innovation que le designer apporte à l’entreprise.

Pavillon Mobile Art

Organisée conjointement par l’Agence algérienne pour le rayonnement culturel et l’Institut du monde arabe, cette exposition présente les œuvres de vingt-quatre artistes – 12 femmes et 12 hommes – appartenant à la nouvelle génération des designers algériens.

Chacun d’entre eux élabore un univers personnel dans lequel chaque objet présenté nous plonge à la fois dans le passé – réel ou fictif, de l'artiste – et nous projette dans la modernité par sa construction, son ergonomie, son esthétique, sa quête du confort…
Toujours à la recherche de formes nouvelles, ces jeunes artistes réinvestissent des formes oubliées ou inédites. Sans renier pour autant les origines de leurs créateurs, ces objets de tous les jours s’inspirent aussi bien des formes de Starck que de celles de Brancusi.

Explore a range of more than 300 events and exhibitions at the London Design Festival, which demonstrates the best of global design and allows visitors to explore the field in depth.

The centrepiece of the festival is always the Landmark Projects: large scale installations in London's public places that are created by some of the world's leading designers and architects. This year, look out for the BE OPEN Sound Portal in Trafalgar Square, a black rubberised structure that will immerse visitors in three-dimensional soundscapes.

As the festival's design hub, the V&A will host a range of installations, talks and even a SodaStream bar. Other events include the Decorex Show at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, the Townhouse at Belgrave Square and the Global Design Forum at Central Saint Martins.

La Mostra sarà affiancata, come di consueto, negli storici Padiglioni ai Giardini, all’Arsenale e nel centro storico di Venezia, da 55 Partecipazioni nazionali. Le nazioni presenti per la prima volta sono 4: Angola, Repubblica del Kosovo, Kuwait, Perù.


Il Padiglione Italia all’Arsenale è organizzato dal Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali con la PaBAAC - Direzione Generale per il paesaggio, le belle arti, l’architettura e l’arte contemporanee, e curato da Luca Zevi.
Gli Eventi collaterali ufficiali della 13. Mostra Internazionale di Architettura saranno proposti da enti e istituzioni internazionali che allestiranno le loro mostre e le loro iniziative in vari luoghi della città.

Common Ground formerà un unico percorso espositivo dal Padiglione Centrale ai Giardini all’Arsenale: David Chipperfield presenterà una Mostra con 65 progetti realizzati da architetti, fotografi, artisti, critici e studiosi. Molti di loro hanno risposto al suo invito presentando proposte originali e installazioni create espressamente per questa Biennale e coinvolgendo nel proprio progetto altri colleghi con i quali condividono un Common Ground. I nominativi presenti sono in totale 112.

Politique fiction

L'ambition de Politique Fiction consiste à déterminer quels principes fondamentaux ont été spécifiquement énoncés par le design et quels débats d'idées inédits il a su mettre en scène. L'exposition se situe à l'opposé d'un exposé de certitudes et de définitions. On a souvent simplifié le design à un phénomène de mode, ou à un sous-département de l'art ou encore de l'architecture, on l'a aussi envisagé comme le reflet des tendances de son temps, un produit ou comme l'indice de l'évolution de la société. Or, il s'avère que le design et son histoire, est un engagement interprétatif et spéculatif, dépassant l'examen sociétal ou mercantile pour imposer un débat d'idées qui n'a, contre toute attente, aucunement perdu de la vivacité de ses origines. Cette exposition remet en question les diktats de la technicité moderniste et son association au libéralisme auquel on l'associe fréquemment, et ainsi il pose une hypothèse autre ; celle d'un design et d'un designer irréductiblement engagé dès l'origine.

Politique Fiction offre l'opportunité à tous de mesurer les relations qu'entretiennent les designers avec les utopies sociales et économiques.

L'exposition met en valeur des personnalités diverses qui œuvrent dans le design et ses frontières tel que Enzo Mari, Noam Toran, Superstudio, l'Atelier Van Lieshout, Didier Faustino, François Roche et son Agence R&Sie, Marguerite Humeau...
