Art Director
The Art Director formulates design concepts and presentation approaches, and directs workers engaged
in art work, layout design, and copy writing for visual communications media; such as magazines, books,
maps and marketing materials. This position will develop, design, or create new applications, ideas,
relationships, systems, or products, including artistic contributions.
The Art Director analyzes information and evaluates results to choose an appropriate solution to issues
within the Graphics Department. This position provides information to supervisors, co-workers,
and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
This person must keep up to date technically and apply new knowledge to the position as well as be
able to train staff members.
Specific Responsibilities:
The Art Director hires, trains, and directs staff members who develop design concepts into art layouts
or who prepare layouts for printing per assigned schedule.

The Art Director manages own projects, working within budget and scheduling requirements.

Skills & Experience:
BA/BS degree in Arts or equivalent
5-7 years in managing team of artists required
Demonstrates outstanding creative conceptual skills through a portfolio that is both clean
and exceptionally strong visually

Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, above average knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Proven track record of successfully managing a staff of more than 5 graphic artists
within a team environment

Proven track record of delivering quality printed publications/materials with a demanding timeline
Must possess strong sense of customer service; both internal and external clients
Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
Must possess working knowledge of press room processes
Good presentation skills
Prior background at ad agency a plus
Knowledge of digital media creation a plus
