Art Director (Part Time)

Hanley Wood, www.hanleywood.com, is currently seeking a part-time, in-house Art Director to join
our Remodeling group.
The Art Director will help with art production on several of our monthly magazines.

The position calls for 2-3 workdays per week. The exact days of the week worked are negotiable,
but the days should be consistent from week to week.

Primary Responsibilities and Related Duties:
• Designing layouts using InDesign and the WoodWing editorial publishing system
• Modifying layouts based on design director's feedback
• Preflighting and troubleshooting InDesign layouts
• Evaluating and preparing art for print and web
• Color-correction and image manipulation using Photoshop
• Creating data graphics such as charts, graphs, and maps
• Commissioning illustrations and photographs as requested
• Experience with managing other designers required
• Experience working in a collaborative atmosphere required

Qualified Candidates will possess the following Education, Experience, and Skills:
• Advanced level of proficiency using digital illustration tools such as Adobe Creative Suite
• Knowledge about print publishing standards
• Superb attention to detail
• Ability to work on several projects simultaneously
• Experience working with WoodWing or a similar editorial publishing system preferred

Requirements
Minimum 4 years of experience in a design field with significant experience in digital.
Exceptional creative portfolio that showcases your talent and passion.

Ability to design in a wide variety of styles
Ability to work with a team across all creative disciplines
An understanding of branding and brand development
Experience with digital and social media or a willingness to learn
A good sense of humor and no ego.

Art Director

The Alpinestars Art Director sets protocol, manages creative staff and workflows, timelines, production
budgets and resources. This position reports to the Office of the President and holds primary responsibility
for the overall management of all creative output of the Alpinestars brand and its various divisions.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing the art department: sets protocol, manages creative personnel and manages
workflows, timelines, production budgets and resources.
• Develop campaigns and vision; implement the strategy throughout all creative
• Manage calendars, deadlines and ensure creative department has the assets they need
• Act as the gatekeeper for projects flowing in and out of the department
• Responsible for overseeing visual look and tone for all collateral, ads, photos, job requests and general
overall concept for respective Alpinestars divisions
• Responsible for art direction for Alpinestars, including: seasonal concept, templates, POP, ads, photo shoots,
catalogs, display fixtures, etc.
• Oversee art direction for all event collateral, including: concepts, illustration, tradeshow design, posters,
ads, invitations, etc.
• Collaborate with web designer on creative management for all web assets. Help to set direction
for templates and art layouts for the web.
• Work directly with Communications to ensure all needs are met.
• Assist in the oversight of equipment and systems used by the department. Recommend software
or equipment upgrades as needed to stay efficient and creatively relevant.

Required Experience

• 5-7 years graphic design experience in action sports
• Proven record of idea generation, conceptualizing, and visual execution
• Experience managing calendars, deadlines and ensuring the creative department has the assets
they need to manage all calendar deadlines
• Strong strategic background in developing campaigns
• Extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Capable of working in fast-paced / energetic environment
• Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines in a steady fashion

The Art Director functions as part of the creative team responsible for producing a high quality
creative product for the Agency’s clients. Under the direction of the Creative Director,
the Art Director works with a Copywriter to develop creative concepts for client presentations.
On assigned accounts, the Art Director provides visuals and design for print work and storyboards for TV.
The Art Director attends TV, radio, and print shoots representing the agency’s creative viewpoint
and insuring that quality standards are met.
