Location: AmsterdamJob description
We are looking for a devout Design Director to become the new shepherd of our 30-Monk strong design department. In this senior-level role, you help to guide the department in the right direction, bringing harmony to our people, projects and processes.
About the Role
As a Design Director, you have less control but more responsibility over the work that goes out.
Together with our ECD, Design Leads and Traffic Monks, you help to make sure each of our design projects is heading in the right direction.
You look after the execution of the art direction and style guides, and help to improve the work by offering new angles and solutions.
More generally, you are responsible for bringing the way we design to the next level across the board.
We’re looking to hire someone with 10 years of experience in the digital field, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience designing all kinds of work.
You’ve earned your stripes in the field and are ready to transition into this new role with mentor-like responsibilities, helping younger designers and the design department at large get better at their job.
With an articulate understanding of design fundamentals such as typography, interaction design and usability, you can improve work on both an aesthetic and functional level.
You know when to make an executive decision, and can even jump in to help if that’s what it takes to secure a delivery.
Your social skills are just as vital. Ultimately, it’s a combination of kudos and critique that makes people go the extra mile.
You understand how designers work and think, but also have a feel for the politics of advertising and pitfalls of production.
In short, you are somebody even experienced designers can learn from.
Become Our New Design Director
At MediaMonks, you will join a successful and fast-growing international production company with 600 amazing colleagues spread across 10 offices. If you can handle our casual and somewhat chaotic company culture just as well as you handle broken designs and flawed kerning, you might be the perfect fit for this tight job. Please be attentive to the requirements for this role and accompany your application with a short cover letter detailing why you’re the right Monk for the job.
